20k, ok!

Hello Friends! I have a 20k trail race this weekend and I'm thinking it might be a bit chilly. I've run this particular run before with a time of 2 hours and 14 mins. It's roughly 12.4 trail miles ( meaning it will be slightly more than that). I'm excited to see what time I get this year.

What I've been up to

.Why hello! It's certainly been some time since I've updated. What have I been up to??

A lot of training. The Mega is becoming ever closer (6 weeks!) so I've been concentrating on cross training, weights, cardio and yoga. I've steadily been building lean muscle as I began incorporating weight lifitng 2 days a week. The progress is fun!

I ran the Rothrock Challenge on June 1st in Pennsylvania and was impressed with my time and the level of fitness that I'm at. I have 6 weeks more to train!

"Suffer 90 Minutes in Here"

I went to Bikram last evening at 5:30pm. The instructor said in class "Suffer 90 minutes in here or suffer 90 years in your life".  This class was tough, as usual, but the heat didn't bother me at all. I learned from my last class not to wipe the sweat off (unless its in my eyes) because the sweat keeps your body cool. I also told myself before class that it wasn't going to be too hot in there. I paid no attention to the heat during the 90 minute class. I concentrated on each of the 26 poses and breathing and the heat absolutely did not bother me at all. She didn't even crack the door open at certain points in this class so there was no cold air break at all and it still didn't bother me.

A Little Bikram?

Saturday night was a dinner date with an old friend from way back. I met my friend Corina at Trata. Yes, this is the restaurant with the "unisex bathrooms" .

Sara the Avatar

I did my first avatar gig yesterday afternoon during my lunch break. I wish I could do that as a full time job! As soon as I see the finished website, I'll post the link.

January Gym Rats!

It's that time of year when the gym is packed with people who have resolved to get fit this year...they're never in for the long haul which is nice because then the machines aren't all occupied (eventually) and the cardio rooms stop smelling so bad. (Seriously, last night was just GROSS!)

Feeling Managerial

Ever have one of those days at work that make you want to haul ass in the opposite direction and never return? Oh yes, that was yesterday. All I have to say is come 12 noon today, I'm out like trout.

the "four letter" word

Yes...snow. My most hated "four letter" word. I was planning on getting into work super early today to bank some time so I didn't have to use any more of my vacation time to leave early on my last "Holiday Hours" Friday but, Mother Nature had other plans...

'twas the day after Christmas and the house was a wreck...

I feel bad for the garbage men come next Monday...So, how was every one's holiday?? We began the festivities Monday evening at my mothers' house. She had about 14 people over and enough food for about 100. ha ha. Seriously, I thought you told me you were having just munchies mom??

'Tis the season!

Happy Christmas Eve! I am, hopefully, being let out of work at around 1pm today. Tonight, we are going to my mom's house for Christmas Eve and then we will be at Pat's parents house tomorrow for Christmas. Pat's two brothers, Chris and Dan,  and my sister-in-law Joanna are here for the next few days so we made sure to stock up our wine fridge accordingly:
